
Pets anywhere from 2lbs (1 kg) to 770 lbs (350 kg) can travel safely with PetSafe. They ensure that the pets are comfortable by transporting them in a climate controlled, pressurised compartment. PetSafe is United’s very own animal transport program designed for safe shipping of pets who are not eligible for in-cabin travel. Only one pet per kennel will be allowed and the space within should be enough for the pet to turn around and stand comfortably. Maximum dimensions for soft sided kennels on the other hand are 18 inches long x 11 inches wide x 11 inches high (46 cm x 28 cm x 28 cm).

Hard sided kennels can be as big as 17.5 inches long x 12 inches wide x 7.5 inches high (44 cm x 30 cm x 19 cm). In-cabinĪ pet traveling in cabin is required to be carried in an airline approved kennel, either hard sided or soft sided. Puppies and kittens under the age of 4 months will not be allowed to travel with the airlines. The length of the quarantine and inspection is as specified by the destination city's animal and plants quarantine and inspection institution.

If quarantine and inspection is required, the pet owner is responsible for all relevant fees that occur. Travelers must understand the relevant regulations before departure, provide health and veterinary certificates for their pets, and obtain approval from the countries/regions of departure, entrance and transfer on the itinerary. Animal import and export regulations vary by country/region.Some countries have special regulations and require pets to be shipped as cargo. Please also note that if arrival/transit countries have the restrictions such as the limited amount of pets can be carried, please mainly follow the regulations in such countries. Each flight can check in the maximum of 8 cages, and each passenger who occupies the seat (including children and infants who occupy the seat) can check in the maximum of 2 cages.Due to cargo hold temperature control considerations, we do not accept pets as checked baggage on our B738 aircrafts. Pets must be placed in appropriate containers and transported in the cargo hold as checked baggage.Transporting pets as baggage is a service that is only available for household cats, dogs (Including Psychiatric Assistance dogs for specific routes) and only available on flights directly operated by China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines.
